Hear our own Soren Hough discuss the ethics and risks of heritable genome editing with CRISPR
Our newfound ability to rewrite DNA — the code which, at least in part, makes us who we are — offers unprecedented research and therapeutic opportunities. Yet as with any emerging technology, there are meaningful concerns about its use in humans. In this talk, I will introduce just a few of the regulatory and ethical considerations surrounding clinical genome editing, with a particular focus on how changes we make today will affect future generations. I will also provide guidance on how the scientific community can be proactive as we await deliberation by international advisory bodies.
