How cancer cells may divide and spread

Postdoc Christine Schmidt is co-corresponding author on a paper in ACS Nano. In this study the authors have used rolled-up nanomembranes to study how 3D spatial confinement affects the way single cells grow and divide. This work has demonstrated how spatial confinement leads to increased chromosome missegregation, providing new insights into the key events that occur when cancer cells metastasize in vivo.
